The BVA/KC Hip & Elbow Dysplasia Scheme

Customer Experience Survey

Dear Breed Health Co-ordinator,

We would like to invite you to participate in a survey being undertaken by the British Veterinary Association, in collaboration with The Kennel Club, to understand the experiences of customers who have used the BVA/KC Hip & Elbow Dysplasia Scheme between 2019-2022.

It is of upmost importance to both The Kennel Club and the British Veterinary Association that we listen to our customers’ experiences, your contribution to this survey will help us to understand how to better improve our services. The survey will be open for approximately four weeks.

This short online survey is completely anonymous. To participate, please follow the link here.

Please share this with your breed communities so that we can collect as much feedback as possible, as this will help us in identifying key areas to improve upon. A second email will be sent either later today or early next week directly to those who have used the scheme within the past few years.

The British Veterinary Association is the sole administrator for the BVA/KC Canine Health Schemes so if you have any queries relating to the CHS please visit their website or email chs@bva.co.uk

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this research.

Kind regards,

The Health Team

Clumber Spaniel Eye Testing Clinic 2022

Taking Place on Sunday 2nd October 2022
from 10.00am at North Muskham Village Hall

The Clumber Spaniel Club will be holding its annual Eye Testing clinic in conjunction with its Championship Show on Sunday 2nd October 2022. Testing will be carried out by Robert Pontefract of Clear Ridge Veterinary Surgery, Stamford and he is a member of the BVA Eye Panel. A full list of the fees is set out on the booking form (see link later).

This clinic is open to all breeds but in the event of a high number of bookings, Clumber Spaniels will be given priority.

The Club recommends that all Clumber Spaniels being bred from should hold a current eye certificate. It also recommends that all other dogs should be tested at regular intervals to monitor eye health; this is recommended to be at 2, 5 and 8 years of age.
The Club will subsidise the cost for all Clumber Spaniels tested on the day whether or not they are owned by a Club member and the fees on the booking form include the subsidy. By accepting this subsidy owners agree that the Club may publish the results on its website, and use those results to build evidence about eye health in the breed. The Club also offers free tests for Clumbers over 8 years old.
For those unable to attend this session the Clumber Spaniel Club will refund £10 for each dog tested and owned by an existing member and £5 for each dog tested and owned by a non-member. To claim this subsidy, owners must send a copy of the eye test certificate to the Breed Health Coordinator and must be willing for the Club to publish the results, and to use those results to build evidence about eye health in the breed.

Dogs must have a functioning micro-chip and the dog’s KC Registration Certificate must be presented at the time of the test for the vet to stamp to confirm the test has been carried out. Each dog will be allocated a specific time to arrive so that paperwork can be completed and drops can be administered approximately 20 minutes before the appointment for examination by the vet. The drops are designed to dilate the pupil to aid the examination of the back of the inner eye.

The venue is North Muskham Village Hall, Nelson Lane, Newark NG23 6HL

Payment must be made in advance.

Complete booking forms and fees should be sent to:
Carol Page Micklemess, 20, Swanwick Lane, Swanwick, Southampton SO31 7HF
Further information about the arrangements for the test, and for details about payments by PayPal please contact Carol Page on 01489 589734 or email
Bookings must be received by Thursday, 22nd September 2022
